The Art Of Breaking

I've spent my entire life creating a persona,
that people find intimidating,
someone captivating.
I pretend to be untouchable,
but it has only made me unlovable.
I wear this suit to hide my scars,
for if they saw what I hid underneath,
they'd scatter like stars.
I hide behind my black hair,
so no one realizes that I care.
Society thinks I'm cold,
but I just like to be in control,
for I only do no strings attached,
because she shattered my heart like glass.
I let her see my scars,
and she still watched me fall apart,
now I sit here with the dust of a heart,
as I slowly watch her depart,
yet somehow, I still see her as a work of art.
